QUICK REVIEW:

        VTI has a novel idea.  Instead of creating a proprietary voting device, why not use off-the-shelf computer components?  That way you can lower the cost, replace equipment as needed and stay up to date.  Turns out this isn't quite as easy as it sounds, but they are working on it.  VTI now has a number of counties in its fold--the first was from Indiana.    As of 2007 they have installations in 7 counties in Kansas, 4 in Indiana, and one in Wisconsin.  However, they have now been in business for 6 years and have only gained 12 counties, and that isn't enough to live on.

UPDATE: as of the spring of 2007, VTI closed up shop.  Some ex-employees are keeping existing clients going. Others are moving to new vendors.
